Refound some VMars love, and the new chapter is half written, in case anyone out there is still waiting for it. It's slow going, but things are going to start winding down now. I'm thinking I have two or three more chapters and an epilogue left.
But hopefully the new chapter will be up by the end of the month. |

So I've started a new journal. Not because I'm abandoning this one, which would be hard considering the small amount of attention I've been giving it already, but because I wanted a place to post some non-fanfiction writing that I could have RL people and online people look at and comment on. And I don't want some of the RL people reading my livejournal.
Logically, yes I could have F-locked my posts. But I've written a lot more than I thought I had, and am sadly not on a premium account.

Seeing as I'm going back to school soon, I think this thing might pick up again. I have missed it.

So. Thanks to ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) spn_secretpost, I think I might write a SPN fic. It's definately not leaving my computer until after I finish my VM fic, and I just have an intro and a basic concept, but it's got that epic feeling to it. And it's stalking me. Damn it.
Well, I was worried that I wouldn't have anything to obsess over anymore. I guess I brought this on myself. |

Does anyone else just love how iTunes has to close down EVERYTHING YOU HAVE OPEN so that it can update? Because Apple could not possibly just create an update patch so that those of us who do not have high-speed internet don't have to download the whole damn program again.
But really I'm just bitter because it closed everything I have opened in the last three days.
And I'm ashamed of you Mozilla. Deleting your history when the browser closes? THAT WAS NOT OUR DEAL! What good does that do me, you lazy little bastard? |

It's over. I have finished the entire series of West Wing...
...in less than a month.
And everything I remember about the seventh season: crying. Seriously, I'm really glad I have a box of tissues in my room right now.

But basically, I'll just be ignoring the last disk from now on. |

I often tell people about my old obsession with Roswell, and a common question is "why?" It's not totally uncalled for, because, really, the show didn't have a lot going for it. It had some gems, like the pilot, but overall all it was pretty sucktastic, and the writers had a tendency to alienate all of the viewers. The thing is, once the third season is mentioned, there's really only one redeeming scene, in the finale, when I remember why I loved the show. Max's graduation speech.
So why did I keep watching? Well, it's pretty simple. About halfway through the third season, I decided that I couldn't handle it anymore, and decided to stop. And then, through the online grapevine, I learned that they had killed Max. The main character.
And I decided it was a sign for me to keep tuning in.
Since watching VM, I've noticed a lot of similarities between it and Roswell, mainly in terms of my fandom experience.
1. The first season is where nearly all of my good memories live. When I watched Roswell, the entire first season was amazing, and it was the same with Veronica Mars. It was perfect when I saw it, and it fit me like nothing else had.
2. The second season was a huge letdown. As a shipper, both shows let me down almost off the bat, and continued in a downward spiral for nearly the whole season. VM turned around in the second half, after Duncan left (when the mysteries actually became apparent), and I really only liked Departure and EOTW on Roswell.
3. The third season was not the same show. When I watch season one and season three, I can't connect the characters. Who is this emo boy? Oh, the same one who knocked out Veronica's lights in the pilot? Yeah, okay, if you say so. There were so many major events in the VM plotline, but none of those seem to be the ones shaping the (main) characters. Mac was the only one affected by Beaver's death? Veronica had no lasting effects from being locked in a frige and set on fire? Kind of like the 360 that Liz's character took in the start of the third season of Roswell.
4. The change of station in the third season.
5. I tried to stop watching. Both of them. In Roswell, it was right around this time in the season, too, and then they killed Max. And last week, after hearing ( these spoilers ) I decided that VM was only making me miserable, and it's part of the reason why I haven't updated my fic in a while. I watch the episodes, and I don't want to write these characters. By the time I care again, it's Tuesday. So I skipped the last episode, and I watched West Wing instead. ( SPOILERS for 3.14 ) |
